RETIRING ROOM UPGRADED IN CITY RAILWAY STATION
Mysore, Nov. 5- The first of the six
retiring rooms being upgraded at the City Railway Station under Public Private
Partnership (PPP) was inaugurated by Vinod Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager,Mysore Division,
South Western Railway (SWR) this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior
Divisional Commercial Manager (SWR) Dr. Anup Dayanand Sadhu said that the
Indian Railways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hotel
Sandesh The Prince, Mysore, for upgrading six Retiring Rooms at Mysore Railway
Station under Renovation, Operate & Transfer (ROT) scheme for a period of
15 years.
"This is the first of its kind
facility in a Railway Station in the entire country under the ROT scheme,"
said Dr. Sadhu, adding that it is being tried in New Delhi at present.
"The Hotelier will have to pay
an annual sum of Rs. 10 lakh to the Railways for 15 years, with 10% escalation
costs. The retiring room facility will be available only for the bonafide railway
passengers and railway department officials," he said, adding that the
Hotelier will have to provide all basic facilities including catering. All the
six rooms are on the second floor of the building. The cost of the newly
inaugurated room is Rs. 1100 per day (24 hours), said Dr. Sadhu and added that
rest of the rooms will be readied within the next three months. "This move
is expected to bring in higher level of professionalism in hospitality services
of the Railways and more importantly Indian Railways would be able to cut down
their recurring expenditure in non-core area of operations," said Dr.
Sadhu. Sandesh Nagaraj, proprietor of Sandesh the Prince, was present.
