Railways may discuss safety with Chinese officials
  New Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS)'

      The Indian Railways is likely to discuss with its Chinese counterpart issues related to safety, modernisation and maintenance and running high-speed trains, official sources said Monday.


     Sources said keeping in mind the need for high-speed trains in the future, the Indian Railways can learn from China.
        Sources said Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal, who is a part of the Indian delegation for the first India-China strategic economic dialogue in Beijing, was expected to discuss safety of tracks, modernisation of signalling systems and running of high-speed trains with Chinese railway officials.

          In the previous decade, the total number of average passenger and freight trains run daily by the Indian Railways increased by 30 percen'Both countries operate large railway networks and can share common concerns,' said a source.
