The Indian railways, one of the world’s largest railway systems, will also become significantly faster in the years to come thanks to some counsel and guidance from Russia. Currently, the average speed for most Indian railways trains is 120 kmph, but with Russia’s help, they would potentially be amped up to 200 kmph.

The Indian Railways is going through an extremely poor phase as far as passenger safety is concerned. Big accidents resulting in huge loss of lives are happening with alarming frequency. Its resources are stretched thin. Infrastructure is creaking.

New Delhi: Indian Railways said on Wednesday that at least 45 cases of rail track sabotage were reported during 2016 and that it is working 'round the clock' to avoid any untoward incidents.
With the model code of conduct in place, the government could be looking at making a pan-India announcement in its Union Budget that will have an impact on everyone, including the five states going to elections from February 4.
