Tata for legal battle.

Tata to move court against Singur order

Kolkata: A joint venture of West Bengal and the Indian Railways with Steel Authority of India (SAIL) in Singur hit a roadblock just hours after chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced the project on Saturday.

The land on which SAIL wants to set up a metro railway coach factory is caught in a legal wrangle. Tata Motors will move the division bench against the September 28 trial court order which validated the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011.

Tata Motors will move the division bench on Monday, or the day after, in case court proceedings are adjourned on Monday. Earlier in the day, Mamata had said, "SAIL will set up industry on 600 acres. The rest 400 acres will be given to unwilling land-losers once the HC embargo is over."
