Pakistan Railways DGM, IG and DSP defy High Court
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on
Friday expressed extreme dismay over non-appearance of Pakistan Railways
Deputy General Manager, Inspector General Railway Police and a Deputy
Superintendent of Police in spite of issuance contempt notices.
Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi is
hearing a contempt petition moved by Pakistan Railways officer Muhammad
Ali Rajpar, who accused the respondents of removing him from his
official residence in violation to a court order.
However, Railways police registered a
case against him on the charges of corruption and abuse of power. On
previous hearing he was produced in handcuffed but now he had been
released from jail on bail.
As hearing started, Rajpar told the
court that the federal minister for Railways is also criticizing court’s
order. At this, the judge remarked that everyone should bear in mind
that courts give decisions in line with the constitution and law.
The court adjourned hearing till November 7 and sought appearance of Railways officials.
