Misuse of funds: CBI raids Railway area manager's office
The CBI on Wednesday conducted raid at the Ernakulam South Railway
station following an information regarding a tipoff of funds, misuse of
tatkal reservation and high price of food items being sold at the
railway stalls. The raid started in the noon continued till night. “We
examined the documents at the office of area manager Ashok Kumar
following a tip off regarding misappropriation of funds in purchase made
by the Railways,” the officials said.
“There were also information about misuse of tatkal facility by some travel agents. With fake name and address, travel agents are reportedly misusing the tatkal facility,” the CBI officials said. “We got information that some travel agents are making bulk booking of tatkal tickets. The passengers, who were travelling using tatkal reservation, were also checked,” the CBI official said. The CBI also conducted inspection at various stalls selling food and stationary goods at Ernakulam South Railway station considering the reports that some of the stalls are violating the price limit prescribed by the Railways.
“A report would be sent to our directorate in New Delhi and Railways.
Some of the documents from the office of Area Manager was taken for further examination. No case has been registered yet,” the official said.
