You may be aware of the recent collision between an EMU and a Goods train near Chennai. In the accident, "unauthorised" persons ran a suburban Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train from Chennai Central railway station at a high speed, and rammed it into a goods train at Vyasarpadi Jeeva station on April 29. CBCID enquiry and CRS enquiries are going on. Consequent to this accident Rly Admin. has handed over all four operating keys to the Motorman as driver’s equipment(even in off duty) and decided some other decisions like supplying light weight suitcases and etc.
In these changed circumstances, our organization (AILRSA, Chennai) decided to conduct a “Safety Seminar on EMU Working” on 3rd June 09, at Chennai. For which we are consolidating various views, suggestions and experiences to be placed on the Seminar. We are trying to contact the Motormen from various Railways(CR, WR, ER, Delhi Metro and Calcutta Metro). Hence if you send suggestions from your end at the earliest through mail it will be much helpful for consolidation. Further I cordially invite you along with some of the Motorman from your Railway to share your valuable views and experiences at the seminar. We have invited Rly Officials also to the seminar. Let us play our important role to ensure safety and security in Railways.
