'Since Railways do not have funds, work not in progress'
TNN | Mar 26, 2013,
LUCKNOW: A
banner at an under-construction building in the Cantonment area highlights the
state of a railway
project in a rather unique way. The contractor has put up a banner at the building
which reads, "This work is being done by Northern
Railways. Since Railways do not have funds, work is not in progress".
The state of the project has been so blatantly highlighted that even railway
officials cannot deny shortage of funds, which has put the project in limbo.

safety and passenger amenities, railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said
on Wednesday as the Lok Sabha passed his ministry’s budget for 2013-14.
“We increased funds for safety. We need to give better services if we increase the fares. There are many complaints on cleanliness,” Bansal said while replying to the debate on the railway budget 2013-14 in the lower house of parliament.
