Just 5 railway zones have almost 70% unmanned level crossings in Indian Railways

These five zones - labelled by the national transporter as 'critical', as they have the most unmanned level crossings - have 2,556 UMLCs out of a total of 3,479 such crossings on broad-gauge across the railway network.

At 98.5 per cent, Railways may clock its worst-ever operating ratio in 2017-18

This would be the worst ratio since 2000-01, when it was 98.3 per cent, which was previously the worst-ever for the national transporter. The figures will be communicated to the Controller General of Accounts.

Documentary on India's first electric locomotive to be out next month
